June 2026: Current Goals
Hello all!
If you saw on Instagram recently, I made the decision to deprioritize my Youtube channel because I wasn’t reaching my goal of making a video each month. I love making videos, but it’s a lot of work! The video I’ve been working on has had a lot of delays. Currently it’s delayed in post production because it needs some voiceover work. I haven’t been able to record it because I’ve been sick the past couple of weeks and my voice has hit the dumpster! :(
In all honesty, hitting a wall with video making was a blessing because it made me realize what I need to prioritize with my art career. I’m currently in the crossroads of many major life decisions. I’m debating moving to another state, going to grad school, and switching careers. It’s been a lot of thinking, and not a lot of doing in my opinion! What I need is to develop a great art portfolio! That’ll help with my career and education goals. So here’s my current game plan for developing an art portfolio:
Three areas of interest: illustrations, comics, book design
Goal: one piece per area per month
Comics
start with finishing my remaster project with my comic, “Dear Samar”
while pitching “Dear Samar” to publishers, I’ll then switch to making short comics such as character introduction stories to my next big comic project
then I’ll start developing my next long form comic project
Illustrations
split up two ways:
Portfolio
design work for long comic (focus on digital art)
practice making book covers for real or imagined books
Store
relief printmaking (shirts or prints)
stickers
other products
Book Design
Zines
with making zines, my goal is to be experimental and try explore mix media creation (digital and physical creation)
As always, thanks for reading and for coming along my art journey!
